Making TUNNEL BOOKS at the Granada Hills Branch Library!

We will create an amazing multidimensional TUNNEL BOOK using a three-dimensional tableau scene to honor Native American Heritage Month!    Utilizing strategic cutouts,  accordion folding  and framing techniques, explore a “layered view” that creates the setting for a dramatic scene and story that moves back and forth in space and possibly in time!

Bookmaking at Verdugo Hills High School with VAPA Students

I will lead bookmaking workshops with Visual and Performing Arts (VAPA) English and Art students at Verdugo Hills High School in Tujunga, CA, supported by the Los Angeles Unified School District.

Students will create one-of-kind BOOKS by hand, and develop them with print and visual media to create unique works of writing, visual art and craft.

I will work with Seniors in the VAPA English class, and Freshmen in the VAPA art class.

These workshops are for specific VAPA students at Verdugo Hills High School, and will take place in VAPA classes during school hours.

Community Winter Celebration at the Granada Hills Library

Join us and Artist in residence Debra Disman from 1:30 to 3:30 for an envelope bookmaking workshop and create heartfelt gifts and cards.

We will continue the fun from 3:30-5:00 PM with a winter community celebration.

All are welcome!
Light refreshments provided.
Attendees will also be entered into a drawing for a free LAPL sleeping bag!

“Freedom of Expression” Bookmaking Workshop at the Granada Hills Library

In this "Freedom of Expression" workshop  participants will learn how to create a single signature binding and use assorted materials to design book covers which will reflect their unique individuality!

Join us to celebrate the Martin Luther King holiday and freedom in all its forms.
This program is part of my Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs Artist Residency at the Granada Hills Branch – Los Angeles Public Library.

Bookmaking Workshop at the Silverlake Independent JCC

Flag Bookmaking Workshop held for 5th graders on the theme of Shalom Bayit - Peace of the Home, as part of The Art of Ethics theme at the marvelous Silverlake Independent JCC.

While traditionally described as matrimonial harmony, we're into expanding the theme to include sibling harmony and all those in our homes.

This workshop is for those enrolled in the weekly calls, and part of the SLIJCC Visiting Educator Artist program.

Fireworks Bookmaking Workshop!

To honor African-American History Month we will develop our books with images of barrier-breaking members of this community who created their own brand of fireworks and changed our country, our culture, and our world.
