Artist Residency
“We Write The Book” Goes to Northridge!
I am thrilled to work again with the Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs Neighborhood Engagement Artist Residency (NEAR) program for 2024-25!
I will be an artist-in-residence at the Northridge Branch Library, conducting bookmaking workshops and events for the local community and library patronage from September 2024 through April 2025 on selected Saturdays as well as during the week after school.
I am honored to be serving the City of Los Angeles again through the DCA. Let the bookmaking begin!

Please join us at 11AM on Wednesday June 12, 2024 to celebrate the culmination of the Canoga Park Branch Library’s year long Artist Residency with Debra Disman, “We Write The Book”, supported by our beloved and supportive Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs!

Come and make your own travel journal, enjoy refreshments and see a slide show of our exciting year of bookmaking projects. “Take and Make” bookmaking packets will be available while supplies last so you can keep the bookmaking magic going after the event!

On Butterfly Wings…
Our beautiful participants took flight as they learned how to create a “Butterfly Book” to celebrate the beauties and joys of Springtime!
This workshop was part of my Artist Residency a the Canoga Park Branch Library called, “We Write the Book”, supported by the wonderful Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs.
They were encouraged to add ribbons in honor of May Day, referencing the ribbons flowing from the traditional May Pole, and held onto as folks danced around it to celebrate!
An inspiring time was had by All!
