EXHIBITIONISTA: “ENGULFED” at Artworks Center For Contemporary Art

June 26, 2023 By Debra Disman

I am delighted to participate in:

ENGULFED

 An International Group Exhibition
Opening: July 14th, 6-9pm – September 30th

An exhibition shedding light on the crisis of forest fires across the globe. Artists respond to the forest fires by developing work that focuses on global warming, resource destruction, property damage, loss of life, wilderness protection, sustainability, political issues, fire mitigation, first responders, or broadly conceptual work dealing with the interpretation of “engulfed”.

Juried by:
Executive Artworks Center for Contemporary Art Director and Curator Sarah LaBarre:

Sarah Elizabeth LaBarre has over 14 years of administrative and curatorial experience in non-profit arts organizations. She believes that art has the capability of transforming lives and is especially interested in points of connection between artists and the communities they live in. She holds an MFA in fibers from Colorado State University, a post-baccalaureate in fibers from Oregon College of Art and Craft, and a BFA in ceramics from the University of Arts in Philadelphia. Among other artist accomplishments, Sarah’s work is in the permanent collection of the Denver Art Museum.

“Burning Bush” is a sculptural Artists’ Book made of board, mulberry paper, sewing thread, linen thread and dental floss. It stands upright on a pedestal, shelf, table or other surface parallel to the floor. When opened, it can span up to 11″ wide.
