The juror is Anita Garza (b.1959, Chicago, USA) is a multidisciplinary artist and writer, who works with handmade paper, photography, collage, found objects, assemblage and handmade books. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in art and creative non-fiction writing, and an MFA in Interdisciplinary Book and Paper Arts. She has exhibited work internationally and is published in limited edition journals. She served as Assistant Director and Director of Community Programs at the Center for Book and Paper Arts, at Columbia College Chicago. Her latest work with organic material binds nature and the material world into disparate, yet symbiotic relationships. Her work is playful, quirky, whimsical and curious or abruptly turns into a vexing, literal statement—provoking introspection and contemplation. She serves as art editor for the international literary and arts journal, Burningword.
I will be showing "BedTime Story", featuring tiny clay faces made by my Mom, Judy Disman.
